Fascism is alive and well in the United States. A University of Florida student asked John Kerry a longwinded question. In response he was arrested and tasered while the spineless pussy in chief looked on and did nothing. John Kerry, you disgust me and make me ashamed to call myself an American.
UPDATE: Daily Kos has an eyewitness account with a different read on the situation. Personally, I'm skeptical. Yes, the guy was being obnoxious. But there were four cops. Surely they were capable of removing one student from the room without a taser? (No one should believe anything they read on Daily Kos anyway :-)
The way I saw it, Kerry repeated tried to get the moderator to acknowledge the student's question and said several times, "I'd like to answer that." and "That's an important question."
ReplyDeleteI don't dispute the basic thrust of your assertion, but I lay 100% of the blame on the campus cops. The campus police clearly need to be issued the "jackbooted thug of the week" award.
On the upside, the kid now has a ACLU funded civil rights lawsuit that he's going to win.
Interesting. I only watched the video once linked from the impeachbush site referenced by Ron and it seems pretty clearly another case of cops causing an escallating situation, there did not appear to be any reason for them to move in when they did. It is also interesting to read the eyewitnes account from DailyKos:
ReplyDelete"You can see in the videos that his questioning gets kind of inappropriate, so somebody cut his mic. Instead of shutting up, he starts yelling and making an even bigger scene. He struggled all the way up the aisle, and started violently trying to free himself. They threatened to taze him and he wouldnt stop fighting, so he got tazed. "
Not what I saw in the video.
