Who's out there?

I was keeping my travelogue mainly for friends and family, but it seems more people are following along, including, apparently, people I don't know. I'm curious who all is reading this, so if you wouldn't mind, would you please check the "read it" box below so I can get a rough idea of how big my audience is? And if you feel motivated, please leave a comment or drop me an email and let me know who you are. Thanks!

  1. I read your blog for the technical content, but I don't have any problem with bloggers writing about whatever they want to write about. If I thought you would only be writing travelogue entries from now on, I'd probably unsubscribe. But I assume you will have to go home at some point. So I jut scan over them.

  2. I'm enjoying the travel posts, though I originally cam across your blog via technical links. I'm trying to decide if it's worth planning a trip to Alaska for the barbecue.

  3. Our wives met on the Alaska leg and in the future we want to do this same cruise, so we're learning a lot about it from your great posts!

Thanks for doing this and for all the detail!

  4. I began following your blog for the political and philosophical content (where we sometimes agree and sometimes don't, but it's seldom a waste of time). Since I come from a technical background myself I enjoy your technical posts too, and since I love traveling, I'm really enjoying the travelogue. And I have read your simulated dialogues, and your reports from the California fires.

I find the variety refreshing, but I guess I can read all of that just because you don't write that often.

I don't have a problem with some blogs being extremely focused, and others extremely disperse. But I think if I were to choose, I would choose the latter. People have many dimension. And I enjoy knowing more about the people I read online, because that enables me to better interpret what they're writing.

    Keep writing and have fun!

  5. Once upon a time you made a comment to your "readers -- both of them", and I felt honored enough to be singled out (well, "doubled" out) that now I feel compelled to read all your posts. :-)

  6. I have your blog on RSS feeds, but haven't really been reading the travelogue. I found your blog when looking at fire stuff and liked what I saw so subscribed.

  8. Hiya!

I read your blog via Google RSS rReader. I'm a coder. I'm often several days behind in my reading of blog entries.

  9. I'm 180 degrees from you on all the political/social commentary (well, a stopped clock is right twice a day ;-), but enjoy your historical/Lisp blogging.

    Also enjoying the travelogue.

  10. I came for the technical stuff, and a lot of the rest I just skim through. However, since I've been living in Tokyo for nearly a decade now, I felt compelled to comment on a few things about that.

  11. Looks like I'm in the minority, but I enjoy your non-technical posts. Specifically, topics covering politics and rational thought in society. (BTW, kids love the XO)

  12. I first came across your blog from the "AI in a box" stuff. I'm also interested in Lisp and programming languages in general. However I am also very much enjoying your travelog so do please keep on with the thoughtful commentary! Thanks for writing. Paul (http://paulhollingsworth.com)

  14. I found out you had a blog originally because of talk about the AI in a box stuff. But I had already met you because you technically worked together. I think you're an interesting person and enjoy hearing your opinions and analysis of politics, religion, technology, traveling and usually whatever else you want to talk about.
